Welcome to the Brick Explorers Academy! We offer engaging monthly LEGO classes specifically designed for homeschoolers. Please visit our main page for a complete list of class offerings.
Arctic Adventures
In this hands-on engineering class, students will design and build their own LEGO ramp, then modify it using various parts and features so that an arctic animal can slide down and land precisely in a target spot. Through trial and error, kids will experiment with ramp length, obstacles, and add-ons to control speed and direction. The goal is simple yet challenging: get the arctic animal to stop exactly where they want it!
As they test their designs, students will collect data on each attempt and create simple graphs to track their results. This process helps them identify patterns, make better adjustments, and understand how small changes can affect the outcome.
What kids will practice:
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Basic physics concepts (gravity, momentum, force, and angle)
- Creative engineering and design
- Data collection, recording results, and graphing
- Testing, adjusting, and improving their builds
This is a fun, low-pressure activity that encourages experimentation, celebrates "happy accidents," and gently introduces early STEM skills through play. It is perfect for young builders who enjoy hands-on challenges!
What’s included:
- One LEGO Arctic Animal build (builders will take their animals home)
- Data collection worksheet to show results
This class is designed for builders aged 6 years and older. Spaces are limited, so sign up today!
By purchasing this ticket, I agree my child can join the fun at Red Mountain Bricks’ workshops! I understand the staff and volunteers work hard to create a safe and enjoyable experience. I release them from liability for any unexpected incidents during my child’s participation. We’re thrilled for your child to build and create with us!
